General Info

Currently, online lessons are via Zoom, and I will soon have in-person slots available from my home in SE London.

Individual Rates

  • 1 Hour: £40 (£30 students)

  • 30 minutes: £25 minimum (£20 students)

  • Video Feedback: £10

Group Classes

Rates for group classes are by consultation, taking into account things like the duration, number of students, ability level, etc. Reduced rates are offered for charity and community groups.

Booking Lessons

Contact me via the form here - I’m very happy to have a brief initial chat about what you’re looking for and answer any questions you might have. I’m working on having an online booking system, but currently email is the best way to contact me and get booked in.

For online lessons, you’ll then get your own Zoom link, which will be the same for all subsequent lessons, so keep it safe! Do make sure your Zoom app is up to date (check for updates frequently!) and you’re quite welcome to record the lessons for your own personal use.

Payment and Cancellation Policy

I operate a 24hr cancellation policy, otherwise the missed lesson is payable in full. I do try to be flexible in cases of illness or emergency and will try to reschedule if possible. Payment is due prior to the lesson or within 24 hours, and I’ll send you my bank details with your Zoom link.

Classes

Sessions are always tailored to your needs and I’ll be guided by you. We can chat about your previous experience, your particular challenges and your goals for the future, and work out a plan going forward.

For beginners and ongoing classes, I recommend weekly or fortnightly sessions for consistency and progression, but we can work out a schedule that fits for you. Casual classes, to prep for an audition or performance or work on something specific are also available.

Basically, we can work on whatever you want, but if you want an idea of the kind of sessions we can have and what’s involved, there’s more information below.

Singing - beginners

A typical first lesson goes like this:

  • Introduction to how the voice works (get ready to get hands on!)

  • Posture and alignment work

  • Breathing and how to do it well

  • Beginning scales and exercises to get the voice moving

audition prep - Singers

I LOVE prepping for auditions, and ideally you’d be able to allow a couple of lessons for this, but realistically this isn’t always possible, so here’s a rough idea of how I approach these:

  • Checking in with alignment and breath

  • Quick warmup with scales and arpeggios

  • Sing through of the audition material

  • Feedback and exercises to address specifics

  • Always working from an actor’s perspective - how does the technique and musicality support the storytelling?

Singing - Ongoing

We can address particular challenges such as:

  • Stamina

  • Flexibility

  • Connecting with the text

  • Stylistic choices

  • Musicality

Voice for Actors

You don’t have to be a singer to benefit from voice work! Actors can gain greater stamina and emotional connection through exercises focusing on:

  • Breath connection

  • Articulation and clarity

  • Interpreting the text

  • Emotional connection

Audition Prep - Actors

Whatever you need to prepare for your audition, we can work on things like:

  • Telling the story

  • Fluency and flexibility

  • Making interesting choices

  • The emotional journey

  • Character work

  • Dealing with nerves

Group Classes - Voice for Actors

Classes can be tailored to your needs, and please get in touch to discuss your requirements, but can include things such as:

  • Breath and tension release

  • Vocal health

  • Working with Shakespeare

  • Contemporary text

Public Speaking

Fear of public speaking is often cited as the most common fear people have, and yet it’s becoming an ever bigger part of our lives. In classes we can work on:

  • Managing nerves

  • Making yourself understood

  • Connecting with your audience

  • Being more interesting and engaging

Video Feedback

Send me a short video of a song or piece of text you’d like to work on (like a self-tape), and I’ll send you feedback in the form of a video, along with a written guide. You can specify any areas you’re particularly looking at, but in general feedback will include:

  • Basic technique and breath support

  • Use of vocal colour and expression

  • (for songs) Musicality and style

  • Text, characterisation and acting choices
